Strategic Plan

Building on the Commission’s strong foundation, the Executive Committee identified a need to formally develop strategic initiatives to define future goals and organizational priorities. This led to the creation and approval of the FY17–FY19 Strategic Plan at the 2016 Annual Business Meeting held in Florida. The plan enabled the Commission to roll out a structured framework for the subsequent three years, guiding its efforts and aligning its activities with long-term objectives.

As part of this process, the Commission also approved its mission, vision, and core values, establishing a clear identity and purpose. Core strategies and goals were defined to provide standing committees with guidelines from which to carry out their duties effectively and consistently.

The Commission’s strategic planning cycle spans two years and is led by the Executive Committee. This process is inclusive and collaborative, incorporating input from the full Commission during the Annual Business Meeting and throughout the year via Standing Committees and Tier Groups. This approach ensures that the strategic direction reflects the collective insight and expertise of its members.

Through this ongoing strategic planning process, the Commission continues to evolve as a responsive, mission-driven organization dedicated to serving member states, school districts, and military-connected students.
